Ph.D. in Architecture
The department of architecture was established in 1995 as part of the Graduate School of Engineering and Sciences. The Department offered only graduate programs leading to masters and doctoral degrees until 1998 when the undergraduate program was launched. The Department of Architecture aims at education innovative researchers in architecture and combining excellence in education with cutting-edge research. The objectives of the graduate program are: Graduating students with a high critical-capacity, theoretically equipped, having the abilities to develop new perspectives and researching with contemporary methods and tools; and producing information for the use different accumulations and technologies both in the profession and, in general, for the benefit of society. The graduates play active roles in Turkey and international platforms. As part of its research objectives, the Department focuses on uniting theory with practice, through collaboration links with entities across IZTECH campus and within the IZMIR Technopark Area. The education staff consists of young and energetic academicians who are graduates of various top-rated national and international schools. Graduate students have the possibilities of being incorporated into a project or conveying their dissertations in a research project supported by the institution....

The official program of Doctorate in "Architecture and Urbanism" Is organized by the University of A Coruña. Being a unique degree in the University System of Galicia is intended to collect research activities in these disciplines in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, but without giving up its expansion at national and international level.
The program is aimed at training doctors in the different disciplines of Architecture and Urbanism. As it is a question of answering researches with very different fields, the program has seven lines of research that respond to the areas of knowledge typical of architecture and urbanism and that form the student in the knowledge of degree and master. These are:...

The Ph.D. course prepares culture-oriented and high scientific profile researchers to engineering applications, and enable them to develop knowledge, new methods of investigation, design and research activity in public or private bodies, along with managerial competencies. The available curricula are Architecture and Civil-Environmental Engineering.
Activities are oriented to advanced design, theoretical analysis, soft-computing, and experimentation. The first year includes courses or lectures on basic science subjects and organizational aspects of research, according to the weaknesses of the individual initial preparation and the selected research themes. An analysis of the state of the art will be also carried out, and the main theme of study will be identified. The second and third year will be devoted to the individual themes, and a stay in a research body of international relevance will be proposed. Common features are a multidisciplinary theoretical-experimental approach and interaction with the territory, the industrial and professional world....

The PhD in Architecture opens a training and advanced high-level research and intended not only to those who are in the gym, but also those who exercise professional practice, for whom this course presents the possibility to deepen their knowledge and develop skills in the field of architecture. It integrates the practical design work in architecture as advanced research form, placing it in the context of scientific research. It intends to develop in the current international environment, to ensure the placement of students in competitive global media and provide them with skills comparable to international academic level; provide cross-disciplinary knowledge on conceptual issues, formal and practical with application in research, critical thinking, planning and execution of works having as a framework of areas the landscape, in a comprehensive way, as well as the questions of the nature of built heritage (monumental , industrial, civilian), a more specific way....

Architecture at Queen’s addresses the issues of architecture and urbanism in an increasingly globalised world, where factors such as sustainability and climate change, identity and heritage, and notions of craft and form create a complex context that architecture has to mediate.
Architecture at Queen’s values both traditional academic and practice-based research. We have the expertise to support PhDs involving deep investigations into cultural, historic and technological contexts both in Ireland and globally. Our practice-based PhDs (offered in association with the ADAPTr programme) and research-by-design activities promise new knowledge through not only the analysis of the existing but also the documentation of new processes and situations created by new design thinking. In both, architecture is seen both as a lens and as a measure of urban, suburban and rural landscapes....
