Introduction
This doctoral program provides a double continuity: first, to the previously existing doctoral program, and secondly to the Official Master's Degree in Regional Development and Economic Integration, which provides the teaching period. It deals with a rigorous, transversal program with the participation of multiple areas of knowledge, seeking interdisciplinarity in the analysis rather than the excessive specialization that occurred in some of the doctoral courses of a more formalistic nature, scarcely intensive and with hardly any orientation to the research training.
The Program is characterized by the prioritization of very specific lines of research (demographic change, regional development and internalization, labor economics, agrarian policy and rural development, regional economic evaluation and planning, and information society and urban-regional development), areas in which the groups involved can offer the experience of high quality researchers at the national and international level, all this without prejudice to which, in justified cases, theses can be formulated in other lines of research within the field of applied economic analysis. .
Lines of investigation
- Demographic change and long-term socioeconomic modernization
- Regional development, sectoral and business change and long-term internalization
- Macroeconomic analysis of labor markets
- Agrarian policies, rural development and regional development
- Regional economic planning and evaluation models
- Information society and urban-regional development

Ideal Students
The recommended entry profile for admission to the research period is to have completed and passed the Master's Degree in Regional Development and Economic Integration offered by the USC. In this case, the activity in the research period will focus solely on the preparation of the doctoral thesis.
Students from official master's degrees in the areas of Economics, Business, Geography, History, Labor Relations, Political Science may also be admitted to the research period, although all of them must complete the training activities for this purpose in the research period. , before preparing the doctoral thesis.
Students with the DEA degree obtained through the following USC programs will also have access without supplements:
- Doctoral Program in Economics.
- Doctorate Program in Regional Development and Economic Integration.
- Doctoral Program in Economic Integration, Development and Environment.
In the case of other profiles that have not completed a master's degree, an equivalence of training in research credits will be required, at least equal to those of the master's degree that gives direct access, which will be 15 ECTS. Students with a foreign degree that has not been approved may apply for admission to doctoral studies as long as a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish university master's degree is accredited and entitles the country issuing the degree to access doctoral studies. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree or recognition for purposes other than those of access to these teachings.
Foreign students:
Graduates will be able to access it according to foreign educational systems, without the need for approval, after verification by the University that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish university master's degree and that it entitles the country issuing the degree to access to doctoral studies. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree of which the interested party is in possession or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral education.
