The program is designed for students who wish to pursue a higher degree in the broad area of applied psychology within a framework of human lifespan development (human cognitive development and human career development) and with a research focus on cognitive development, decision-making, and mental health in the information age.

The program aims to strengthen students’ knowledge of applied psychology and train them to carry out original research independently, critically, and innovatively.

For the PhD program, the applicant shall have:

In addition to psychology-related majors, applicants from management, economics, data science, biomedical science, media, marketing, and other fields are welcome to apply for the PhD program:

A Master's degree holder from a recognized university; or Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, normally with honors not lower than Second Class; or Graduated from an honors program of a recognized university with a Bachelor's degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or Completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honors degree.

Fulfilled one of the following English language proficiency requirements:

TOEFL: at least 550 (Paper-based)/ 75 (Internet-based/Home Edition);

IELTS (Academic): at least 6.5 (Test Centre-based/ Online);

GMAT Focus Edition: at least 78 (Verbal).

Native English speakers are exempted from the above English language requirements.

This is based on the understanding that English is the medium of instruction in degree programs offered by universities in Hong Kong. The CUHK(SZ) Graduate School may request applicants to provide additional supporting documents to prove their English proficiency.

TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years from the test date. GMAT scores are considered valid for five years from the test date. GMAT (Verbal) scores at or above the threshold value of 21 will be kept until the score validity phases out.

The tuition fee for the MPhil-PhD program is RMB115,000 per year.
