University of Lodz (Uniwersytet Łódzki) is the greatest hub of knowledge in its unique region of Poland, and home to a growing and changing community where academic skills make great things happen.

Founded in 1945, UL is the largest public higher education institution in the city of Lodz, which is the capital of the same-named region in central Poland. Over 26 thousand students coming to the UL campus from more than 90 countries seek different kinds of degrees, available in more than 100 study fields. UL graduates include several recognizable names, such as the TV journalist Anita Werner, the cinematographer Pawel Edelman, and the author of The Witcher book series Andrzej Sapkowski. Coming to Lodz, one will find campus buildings (lecture halls, dorms, sports facilities) all conveniently located in a lively section of the town.

The University of Lodz has a diverse and multicultural academic community, where each year brings new education opportunities at Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD levels. As a part of the UNIC alliance of European Universities, the UL has close strategic partners all around Europe. Furthermore, it has more than 200 agreements worldwide. No wonder the number of English-taught classes, degrees, and curriculums is still on the rise. For research-oriented people with fine graduate degrees, there are the four UL Doctoral Schools – for thorough work on a PhD dissertation, four years of mentoring and research activities, and preparation for the final stage of the PhD award.

The University of Lodz is the biggest in central Poland capturing hearts and minds, devoted to research and higher education development, aiming at community transformation. Our little homeland is Lodz – a city with an unusual, difficult-to-imitate character, once called the capital city of Polish industry and cinematography, today it combines the charm of past times with the spirit of modern business, culture, and science.
