Introduction

The Doctorate in Administrative Sciences offers wide possibilities for those who want a program that suits their needs. The student develops and trains intensely and independently in the elaboration of his doctoral thesis, looking for his idea to break with established schemes and design solutions that benefit organizations and society.

The student meets his degree requirements taking advantage of the basic subjects offered, such as research methodology, quantitative and qualitative methods, validation of scales, among others. Also, the student participates every semester in seminars and complementary activities, such as optional subjects, participation in congresses, publications, and national and international stays. In fact, the signing of a "double degree" agreement with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has recently been achieved, which provides the doctoral student with important benefits and international recognition.

All these activities strengthen the development of the student of the Doctorate in Administrative Sciences, in which students from various cities in the region currently participate. Even, the students of the program are considerably promoted to mobility activities, such as national and international stays, in countries with current collaboration agreements: Spain, France and Chile.

The two main areas or lines of generation and application of knowledge of the Doctorate in Administrative Sciences are:

General purpose

Train high-level researchers who generate and apply knowledge in the field of administrative sciences, emphasizing organizational culture and behavior and administrative strategies, which impacts with innovative contributions in solving problems for organizational development at the state, national level. and international.

Specifics:

  • That the student has knowledge of research methodology, so that they can develop orderly and critical thinking and deepen the frontier of knowledge, consult data sources and raise awareness in the recognition of the contributions of the authors and the own.
  • That the student has knowledge of contemporary trends in administrative sciences related to the internal and external environment of organizations, and a deep knowledge of the state of the art in the LGAC of behavior and culture and administrative strategies.
  • That the student has knowledge about quantitative methodologies and qualitative methodologies, in order to carry out the design of investigations in consistency with the objective of the same. That the student has a mastery of statistical methods as well as the design and validation of instruments, to validate the empirical evidence and test the corresponding hypothesis.

Graduation profile

Knowledge:

  • Know the main approaches to methodological research in general and Administrative Sciences in particular.
  • Know the main approaches of Administrative Sciences through contemporary trends in administration and organizational theory.
  • In qualitative and quantitative methodology applied to Administrative Sciences.
  • In statistical methods for statistical data analysis, validation and development of measurement scales, applied to Administrative Sciences
  • Theoretical and empirical in the LGAC of the program; Behavior and Organizational Culture and Administrative Strategies, through the complementary activities carried out by the student, guided by his Tutoring Committee.

Abilities:

  • Develop skills for the search, analysis and systematization of documentary information.
  • Develop skills to consistently and systematically apply the scientific method in the formulation and testing of hypotheses and other methodological approaches.
  • Acquire skills for the design of original and innovative research, with reliable and valid information./td>
  • Acquire skills to participate in academic research teams and interdisciplinary networks aimed at generating up-to-date scientific knowledge of the highest level in behavior and organizational culture and in administrative strategies.
  • Develop critical thinking to carry out an epistemological and methodological debate on administrative sciences and organizational behavior and culture and on administrative strategies, which allows you to create and strengthen relevant scientific production.

Attitudes and Values:

  • Show proactivity in the face of changes and innovations in organizations and trends in administrative sciences in the field of behavior and organizational culture and administrative strategies.
  • Show an attitude of openness towards different epistemological, theoretical and methodological approaches to administrative sciences.

Requirements to obtain the degree

Approving all the subjects of the program, must compulsorily comply with the elective credits each semester, as well as having approved the Research Seminars. Previously before starting the 5th. Semester present the pre-doctoral exam, which has 3 modalities approved, approved with observations, so it has a deadline that same semester to present it, before enrolling in the 6th. Or failed, with which he is discharged from the program.

Present the degree exam at the times established by the Regulations. In addition to complying with the provisions of the General Teaching Regulations of the UAA regarding obtaining the degree.

Have the publication or acceptance in a refereed journal of an article or book chapter product of the thesis in collaboration with the tutor as well as the other members of the Tutoring Committee.
