Introduction
The Ph.D. in Bioengineering is preparing future bioengineering leaders in academia, industry, and government. This program has a proven track record of providing students with educational and research training and experiences that integrate the sciences of biology and medicine with the practices and principles of engineering. Students have the opportunity to work with a range of Graduate Program Faculty who represent numerous disciplines.

Scholarships and Funding
Through the Grainger Engineering Five-Year Ph.D. Funding Guarantee, Ph.D. students in their first five years of enrollment are guaranteed a funded appointment for fall and spring that includes a full tuition waiver and stipend.
Students are also encouraged to seek out and apply for teaching assistantships, research assistantships and graduate fellowships.
Curriculum
The Bioengineering graduate curriculum provides students with the flexibility to take courses in each of 3 fundamental areas:
- Statistics & Data Science
- Engineering & Math
- Life Sciences
as well as 3 technical electives in their research area of study:
- Bioimaging at Multi-Scale
- Bio-Micro/Nanotechnology
- Molecular, Cellular and Tissue Engineering
- Computational Bioengineering
- Synthetic Bioengineering
- Biological Science
Additionally, all students complete Bioengineering Professionalism and attend seminars presented by bioengineering researchers from around the world.
