Introduction

PhD PROGRAMME IN MATERIALS, MECHATRONICS AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
ANNOUNCEMENT OF SELECTION: 35th cycle – Academic Year 2019/2020

SECOND CALL 2019

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 22 AUGUST 2019, hrs. 4.00 PM (+2 GMT)
Link to the Application on line

During the filling out of the application online candidates must choose which Research area(s) (max. 2, specifying the order of preference) they are interested to apply for.

Applications for this second call will also be accepted by the participants of the first call, but those who will be winners both in the selection of the first call and in that of the second, will be automatically removed from the second since the winnings on the first call is considered the first choice for the candidate and therefore binding

Positions and scholarships are available on 2 distinct Research areas:

Research area A: Materials Science and Engineering
positions: 8
Scholarships: 7 of which 3 on reserved topics

A1: "Engineering smart polymers based (bio)inks for complex 3D matrix fabrication"
A2: "Recycling vehicular brake pads"
A3: "Wear performance maps for friction brake materials"

Research area B: Mechatronics, Electronics and Operational research
Positions: 12
Scholarships: 11 of which 8 on reserved topics:

B1: "Human-robot interactions based on mirroring mechanisms: Human-codriver interactions in a driving simulator and neural architecture to support perception-action paradigm" (funded by University of Trento and Department of Industrial Engineering)
B2: "Electronic Systems for autonomous vehicles and ambient intelligence" (funded by University of Trento and Department of Industrial Engineering)
B3: "Exploiting supervised learning to warm-start a model predictive controller for legged robots" (funded by the Department of Industrial Engineering)
B4: "AI-based estimation and control algorithms for robotics" (funded by the Department of Industrial Engineering)
B5: "Electronic control systems for integrated quantum photonics" (funded by Quantum Project)
B6: "CMOS-SPAD camera for entangled photon detection" (funded by Quantum Project)
B7: "Devices and systems for organoids and 3D cell culture-on-a-chip" (funded by FBK)
B8: "Distributed Intelligence in the Industrial IoT Edge" (funded by FBK)

The Academic year starts November 1, 2019.

Announcement of selection: Rector's Decree no. 414 of 10.06.2019, published on this webpage on June 11, 2019 – available in the “Download Box”*
*please note that only the Italian version of the call is legally binding, the English version is provided for information only.

NB: Candidates are recommended to complete the online application well in advance before the deadline, in order to avoid possible technical problems or overcharge of the connection and/or of the application systems.
