Geospatial technologies may include satellites and geographic information systems which collect and interpret data and images of the land and sea for analysis. Individuals interested in learning about the tools used in understanding certain weather conditions, as well as cultural developments, often find geospatial technologies of interest.

The PhD is a doctoral degree, specifically called a "doctor of philosophy" degree. This is misleading because PhD holders are not necessarily philosophers (unless they earned their degree in philosophy!). That said, PhD recipients are able to engage in thought experiments, reason about problems, and solve problems in sophisticated ways.
